One important way to achieve our mission is to promote an understanding that we all have a "God Spot" in our brain which permits communication with a source of wisdom and knowledge that exists outside our physical bodies. We want to explore and promote the practical applications of understanding this new paradigm of consciousness. 

 I don't "believe in" near death experiences.  It is my opinion that the scientific research validates that near death experiences are real.  The science of 2011 indicates that we all have a "god spot" or (as per Mario Beauregard MD) a "god brain" that connects us with the divine, the all knowledge timeless space-less domain.

 Children who have experienced this all knowledge domain describe it as a "light that had a lot of good things in it" (age 5), or "I saw the sun and it had a happy face for me" (a 3 y/o),"you'll see, Dr. Morse, heaven is fun"(age 7), most intriguingly, "I went into a huge noodle when I died, well it must have been a tunnel because I don't think noodles have rainbows in them.(age 5).

Dr. Morse's research, as well as the research of many others, clearly documents that we are conscious, aware, and have an expanded sense of consciousness beyond the boundaries of our body, at the point of death. This is true even if the dying person seems comatose.  Therefore, consciousness is not dependent on normal brain function.

Why is there any controversy that consciousness survives the death of the brain?

 All of the many researchers published in mainstream scientific and medical journals agree it is true. The opposing point of view can be summarized as "I don't believe it!" The reason they don't "believe" it is that it doesn't fit into the current scientific materialistic world view. This is why we need a new paradigm, and this is why we are now giving workshops and demonstrating the New Mind Technologies. People are not going to "believe it" until they see it for themselves.

As a Critical Care Physician, children would tell me of their near death experiences, and then ask me "but was it real Dr. Morse. Because if it was real, then you have to tell all the old people". Grieving parents would have the same question, about the "crazy dream" they had of their children returning to them after death, or other spiritual events surrounding dying.

 I took seriously their questions and felt an obligation to not only answer if their experiences were real, but how they could occur from a scientific point of view. Spiritual Scientific is the result of my obligation to those children and parents who shared with me their experiences and questions.

WHY WAIT UNTIL YOU DIE TO LEARN THE LESSONS OF THE NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE?

SPIRITUAL NEUROSCIENCE:  

Practical neuroscience with applications for spirituality. Our conscious self uses our brain to interact with this reality. Space and time are tools of the brain.  Understanding how the brain works is essential to maximize our understanding of spirituality.

OPENING TO THE NON LOCAL ALL KNOWLEDGE DOMAIN

According to Stephan A Schwartz, there are six scientifically proven ways to open our mind-body-brain to the non-local all knowledge domain.  These include prayer, the protocol developed by Dean Radin, and a recent protocol developed by Dr. Bem at Cornell University.

WHAT ARE NON-LOCAL PERCEPTIONS?

Non-local perceptions are the accurate "seeing" or "knowing" of things and experiences that are not in ordinary reality.  These include past life memories, premonitions of the future, medium experiences, angel encounters, spiritual visions, and most importantly, remote viewing.  Remote viewing is important as it is one non-local perception which can be validated in this reality.  For example, elite remote viewers "saw" moons around Jupiter that hadn't been discovered yet.

What is The God Spot?

The God Spot is our right temporal lobe, right hippocampus and related structures.  It is the part of the brain that consciousness uses to express a sense of self, access long term memories, connect to a "god", open oneself to the all knowledge non-local timeless space-less domain and have spiritual insights and understandings.

Mario Beauregard, in 2006, broadened this concept to the Spiritual Brain, meaning that spirituality and a link to "god" is more than just a spot.

GOING FROM "WOW" to "HOW"

We've all heard the stories of spiritual healing, or angels, someone learning something from an out of body experience they shouldn't have known.

And we have all gone "WOW"

Well that's not good enough anymore. We need to learn how such things occur and make them a regular part of our lives. We need to bring the light into everyday life.

I began my career in Critical Care Medicine. I cared for hundreds of critically ill children, while working for Air Lift Northwest. Most of these children died. My goal is nothing less than to change our current culture so when parents have visions or intuitions about their child who has died, they trust and believe their own spiritual experiences.

Our Mission

Our mission is to change the culture of our society so that spirituality is nurtured, honored, not trivialized and dismissed.  When a child dies, research indicates that 50-75% of parents have a spiritual vision which contains the seeds of healing. Unfortunately, frequently those parents have no cultural context with which to understand that spiritual vision.  And no grieving parent is content with "well if it helps them to believe their vision is real (even though we know it's not real) why not just let them believe it.

Years ago a grieving mother asked me to investigate whether or not science can validate spiritual visions.  After 20 years, I have concluded that science does in fact support spiritual experiences as being real.  The Spiritual Scientific Research Foundation and the Keri Beem Research Foundation are the result of that understanding.

Our Long term Goals

I am motivated by Stephan A Schwartz's 8 Attributes for Organizations Invested in Social Change.  One such rule is that we must have a clear goal, yet NOT be invested in one strategy or another in achieving that goal.  Our current goals are as follows:

1.  To help grieving parents understand that their spiritual visions are real, we want to publish small solid serious articles in the mainstream scientific and medical literature on practical aspects of using spirituality in medical care.  By influencing health care professionals we want to create a more accepting climate for spiritual visions.

2.  To create practical therapies which utilize spiritual visions in a controlled way in the therapist's office.  These will be used for treating post-traumatic stress syndrome, autism, death and dying, complex grieving, and the human spirit.

Four years ago I left the safety of my established practice of medicine and my position at the University of Washington, to launch Spiritual Scientific with the full support of my wife. 

We have been honored and recognized by the World Health Organization, and now IRVA-IRIS in this International Consciousness Award.

My Challenge to My Fellow Physicians

Sometimes we have to take the stethoscopes out of our ears and listen to our patients. Hear their spiritual experiences and share their grief. When a patient dies, especially a child, we must confront our own spiritual beliefs to confront the despair and isolation we feel with the death of a patient.  Instead of retreating into our comfortable medical jargon, we need to dare to cry - or share and learn from our patients' spiritual visions. My research is well accepted by the medical profession.  We simply do not know yet how to use this information to change our Intensive Care Unit's and our society's approach to dying.

OUR PROJECTS AND CURRENT ACADEMIC INTERESTS

1. THE SEARCH FOR THE GOD SPOT!

Controlled remote viewing is the one non-local perception which we can validate as real.  We have a proposal to do brain scan studies while research subjects remote view.

 2. A STUDY OF DISTANCE REIKI HEALING

We propose to study the effects of distance healing on patients suffering from strokes.  We will use documented brain tests of brain function developed by Posit Science to assess outcome. And we will have Sham Reiki Controls.

Even if our study does not demonstrate the effectiveness of Distance Healing, we will set a new standard for tests of energy healing.
