Top down causation is the scientific concept that Consciousness is the underlying reality of the Universe. According to this scientific philosophy, consciousness is the primary cause of material reality. The other mostly discredited scientific philosophy is bottom up, meaning that the evolution of basic building blocks of reality led to the evolution of humans and their maginificent brain.
